Elvis Presley, the King of Rock and Roll, was known for his lavish lifestyle, eccentric habits, and unique obsessions. Among the strangest of his fixations was his deep fascination with law enforcement badges. Despite being a cultural rebel, he had an intense admiration for police officers and the authority they represented. His obsession led him to amass a vast collection of official badges from different law enforcement agencies across the United States.  

Elvis’s love for law enforcement wasn’t just about collecting memorabilia—it was a full-fledged passion. He would visit police departments in various cities, befriending officers and requesting honorary badges. His charm and superstar status often worked in his favor, and many departments gladly granted his requests. He didn’t just want replica badges; he wanted authentic, official credentials that made him feel like a legitimate lawman.  

His most famous attempt to acquire a badge occurred in December 1970 when he visited President Richard Nixon at the White House. During the now-legendary meeting, Elvis expressed his concerns about the rise of drug culture and communism in America. He requested a Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs (BNDD) badge, believing it would give him the authority to assist in anti-drug efforts. Nixon, perhaps amused or impressed by the rock star’s enthusiasm, granted his request. Elvis was reportedly overjoyed, considering the BNDD badge the crown jewel of his collection.  

Beyond badges, Elvis collected other unusual items. He had a fascination with police paraphernalia, including sirens, uniforms, and weapons. His love for luxury also extended to his collection of cars—he owned dozens of Cadillacs, Lincolns, and Rolls-Royces, often gifting them to friends, family, and even strangers.  

Another peculiar collection involved religious artifacts. Though he was known for his rock-and-roll lifestyle, Elvis had a deep spiritual side. He owned an extensive collection of Bibles, crosses, and other religious items, often discussing philosophy and faith with his inner circle.
